eShakti Fall

If you follow me on Pinterest, you may have noticed that I spent part of last night Pinning the heck out of eShakti's new Fall line.  Because it is gorgeous.  Seriously, have you seen it?  I want everything!

But, as I don't have the money for everything, here's a few of my very favorite pieces.

Cowl Neck Sweater

The color of this sweater just slays me.

Gradient Houndstooth

This is dress combines a very cool, very modern gradient houndstooth print with a vintage style dress.  I love that.

Plaid Perfection

I told you I was mad for plaid and this skirt is plaid perfection.

More Houndstooth

Because you can never have enough.

Giraffes

Okay, this one isn't from their Fall line, but I think we can all agree that giraffes are great all year round.

If you're in the mood for some giraffes, or houndstooth, or plaid, head on over to eShakti.  This weekend you can get free shipping.  And, if you're a new customer, you can get a $30 new customer gift coupon by using the code GRACEY53PH.  That code is valid through November 30th.

I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend!

Houndstooth and Harlequin

Today I've paired houndstooth with harlequin:

And, frankly, I'm surprised it took me this long to put these two together.

The houndstooth blouse (thrifted Jones New York, similar) is a natural fit with the harlequin sweater vest (thrifted vintage JG Hook, similar).  Thank goodness I found these two hanging out together in my closet or this may never have happened:

Can you imagine??!!

Really though, though, those two did the hard work. I just added a midi skirt (thrifted vintage, similar), tights (Spanx Tight End Tights) and ankle boots (Nine West "Darsy").  Oh, and my new favorite tiger diadem necklace (Hive and Honey via Piperlime):

It's not my fault it goes with everything.

Happy Tuesday, All!

Triangulated

It's rare that I wear an outfit completely devoid of color, but today's is.  And it's actually one of my favorites:

Vintage, thrifted dress, thrifted Old Navy shoes & Target cuff

I love the cut of the dress and the clever little triangle print.  And I like that I can wear houndstooth with it because houndstooth makes everything better.

Also making the world a better place?  Pockets:

Man, I love me some pockets.

Happy Wednesday, All!

Getting Dressed Can Be Fun

Sometimes I cant find anything to wear.  Or, perhaps I should say that I cant find anything that I want to wear.  This has been the case for the past couple weeks.  Sure, I get dressed, but Ive mostly just been phoning it in with uninspired color combinations and my usual half-assed accessorizing.  When this happens, I try to wear something that helps remind me that getting dressed can be fun.  Todays outfit is just such a reminder:

This outfit is fun:

Its plaid (mens vintage golf pants) and houndstooth (vintage via Vintage by the Pound) together.  As they were meant to be.  And its layers of bracelets and big, chunky necklaces.  The red necklace is made from vintage African beads & brass (gifted) and the other is a silver & turquoise squash blossom necklace (vintage via Lil Gypsy Vintage).

They are very heavy together, just in case you were curious.

But, they are also awesome together.  And they are awesome with the houndstooth and the houndstooth is awesome with the plaid.  And its basically an outfit made of awesome:

The best part, though, is that it combines two of my current trend obsessions.  Printed suits (yes, I know its not a suit, but I feel like we can all pretend it is and still sleep at night) and global/boho chic.  Really, the only thing Id change is the shoes.  I love these sandals (old Banana Republic Natalie) but I think this outfit could take a bolder shoe.  I was afraid a different shoe would be too much, but now I dont think so.  Ill definitely try something different next time.

What about you, Reader Friends?  Do you get in style ruts?  What do you do to remind yourself that getting dressed can be fun?

Happy Wednesday, All!

What Really Goes On

Most of my readers are used to seeing me look like this in photos:

Im usually smiling, because I like smiling, but also because I think blogging is fun.  Im usually front to camera because I like to clearly show the outfit Im wearing.  And I usually have my arms at my sides or have a hand on a hip because I cant ever figure out what else to do with my hands.  (Moment of clarity: I bet thats why bloggers carry clutches.  Now I get it.)

But, I think I owe it to you, Dearest Reader Friends, to show you what the other 40 pictures that I dontpost look like.  To show you what really goes on.  Which, more often than not, is stuff like this:

I am pretty much always talking and often gesticulating.  In the above photo Im demonstrating how it was so cold this morning that I had to break the ice on my horses trough.  I dont have a horse.

And this:

And, in that photo I am expressing confusion over my friend, Ferges, confusion about todays color combination.

I think flame cords (Target) and a lavender button-down (Gap via Goodwill) make perfect sense.  Ferge does not.  At least she didnt criticize the houndstooth shoes (Old Navy via Goodwill) though.  But, really, who would criticize houndstooth shoes?  They so very clearly go with everything.

ETA: Although I don't consider my pants confusing, I'll admit that they're bright, so I've linked up to Visible Monday over at Not Dead Yet Style, hosted, as always, by the lovely Patti.

Happy Monday, Everyone!

Hello, Sunshine

We had a beautiful day here in Oregon today.  The past couple days havent been cold, but theyve been overcast.  Today was both warm and sunny.  It made me happy.  And a little cheesy, if this photo is any indication:

Yeah, I dont even know.

What I do know is that I love this outfit and I wish it had photographed even a little better:

I wasnt sure which shoes to pair with the combination of mocha skirt (vintage via Goodwill) and yellow sweater (Gap), but I think I really, really like the houndstooth flats (Old Navy via Goodwill) with it.  Yes, I basically like houndstooth with everything, but this look just reinforces that.

Also, you see that lady-tie?  Its a new lady-tie I found when searching for a lady-tie for my girl, Ally.  I love it because it pairs well with my mocha skirt but it also makes me laugh because its a lady-tie printed with lady-ties:

If thats not some sartorial hilarity, I dont know what is.

Happy Wednesday, All!

Lucky Lamb

This outfit was directly inspired by an outfit that I saw in Lucky Magazine a couple of months ago.  And by a trick of Catherines at Not Dressed as Lamb:

A couple of months ago, Lucky suggested pairing a super-full skirt with a turtleneck layered under a printed shirt.  I knew immediately that I wanted to try to recreate the look but didnt have a suitable skirt.  And then, a couple of weeks later, I found this skirt so I thought Id give it a whirl:

And I love how it turned out.  In spite of its awkward length, this skirt has become one of my favorites to wear and todays outfit is no exception.  I paired the skirt (Ralph Lauren via Goodwill) with a burgundy turtleneck (Gap) layered under a houndstooth shirt (vintage via Vintage by the Pound).  I also added a tie belt (DIY with belts from St. Vincent de Paul), tights (Hue via Nordstrom Rack), booties (Nine West Darsy) and a neon necklace (Target).

Although I do love the skirt, I was a bit iffy about the shirt.  Its vintage and therefore has an appropriately crazy collar.  Which is where Catherines trick comes in; in this post here, she pins the collar of a shirt into a stand-up collar.  I did something similar with todays shirt.  My collar wasnt robust enough to pin behind my neck, so I folded the collar inside the shirt and used a stick pin to keep in place, creating a sort of mandarin collar:

And I think it worked.

So, thank you, Lucky.  And thank you, Catherine.  Also, a special thanks to my friend, Jeanne from I Dream of...{by Jeanne}.  She was with me when I bought this shirt and swore I could rock it.  Best enabler ever.

Happy Tuesday, All!

Slightly Sweater Obsessed

Although I have reduced my shopping (yes, even my thrifting) quite a bit, I cant seem to stop buying sweaters.  Like this one:

I guess you could say that Im slightly sweater obsessed.

The good news is that I really love the sweaters I buy.  And todays sweater is no exception:

I just think this sweater is so cool.  I love the pattern and I even like the subdued colors.  But, the best part is that the front and the back are different:

front

back

Yes, thats right, I look awesome both coming and going.

Because this sweater (nic + zoe via Nordstrom Rack) is so interesting, I kept the rest of the outfit fairly simple, pairing it with black skinny jeans (a.n.a via JC Penny) and houndstooth flats (Old Navy via Goodwill).  The addition of the houndstooth being, of course, the difference between simpleand fairly simple.

So, yes, I probably do need to stop buying sweaters.  But this one was less than $20 at Nordstrom Rack and it usually retails for $130.00.  Surely no one expects me to pass up a sweater when its both cool and inexpensive.  Right?

Happy Monday, Everyone!
