SIA: The Woman And Her Chair

This is the painting Salazar, of 14 Shades of Grey, chose for today's SIA Challenge:

Cecelia Beaux "After the Meeting"

And this is what I wore:

Yes, that's right, I am dressed as both the woman and her chair.

When I first saw this painting on 14 Shades of Grey, I was immediately drawn to the mix of the floral on the chair and the stripes on the woman.  I also love the the rich warm tones of the painting and wanted to incorporate all of those things into my outfit.

The result is a mix of stripes (Target shirt, Vince Camuto skirt), floral (handmade vintage coat-dress-thingy) and leopard (Nine West):

Yes, I know there is no leopard in the painting, but I'm pretty sure that woman sitting on that chair would have some leopard in her life.  She's seems like a bit of a bad-ass like that.

For more inspired looks, pop by Salazar's and take a gander!

And have a Happy Tuesday, All!

Oooh, I almost forgot.  I'm linking up to Visible Monday over at Not Dead Yet Style because I felt highly visible in this mix of prints and awesomeness.

Triangulated

It's rare that I wear an outfit completely devoid of color, but today's is.  And it's actually one of my favorites:

Vintage, thrifted dress, thrifted Old Navy shoes & Target cuff

I love the cut of the dress and the clever little triangle print.  And I like that I can wear houndstooth with it because houndstooth makes everything better.

Also making the world a better place?  Pockets:

Man, I love me some pockets.

Happy Wednesday, All!

Subdued

My friend looked at this outfit and said I looked subdued:

Yes, this shirt was considered subdued:

I mean, it doesn't light up or anything, but subdued?  Really?

Which kind of makes me wonder what people think about my style.  I mean, I must dress like a complete lunatic for a wildly printed blouse (vintage via Goodwill) paired with animal print booties (80%20 via Piperlime) to be considered subdued.  Or maybe the black skirt (Goodwill) and tights (Spanx via Nordstrom) do actually work to subdue the mixed prints (not my intention).  Or, maybe, just maybe, my friend is the lunatic.  Yeah, Im going with that.

Happy Wednesday, Everyone!

The Best Thing about Prints

Of course, the best thing about prints is that they dont have to stand on their own.  You can accessorize the hell out of them if you want.  Or, you can even pair them with more prints:

You can probably guess which I prefer.  Yep, its true, I love mixing prints and patterns.  In part because its such a challenge for me; I really never know how its going to turn out.  And that, I think, is part of the fun.

For today, I mixed two graphic prints; the checked pants (mens vintage, thrifted) and the diamond tunic (Old Navy).  And then, because I was on a role, I added a third print with my flats (Nine West via Piperlime).  Is it lunacy?  A little bit, perhaps, but Id absolutely wear it again.

Happy Wednesday, All!
