Hot Pink Camp & A Mocha Midi

I don't know that I would have thought to pair this hot pink camp shirt with this mocha midi skirt if they hadn't been on the same migratory path through my closet.  But, they were and I liked the way they looked grazing on the plains together so here they are:

I also added black accessories, including my vintage sweater clip pins:

One day I'll probably wear this piece to hold a sweater together.  Probably.

Happy Thursday, Everyone!

Hello, Sunshine

We had a beautiful day here in Oregon today.  The past couple days havent been cold, but theyve been overcast.  Today was both warm and sunny.  It made me happy.  And a little cheesy, if this photo is any indication:

Yeah, I dont even know.

What I do know is that I love this outfit and I wish it had photographed even a little better:

I wasnt sure which shoes to pair with the combination of mocha skirt (vintage via Goodwill) and yellow sweater (Gap), but I think I really, really like the houndstooth flats (Old Navy via Goodwill) with it.  Yes, I basically like houndstooth with everything, but this look just reinforces that.

Also, you see that lady-tie?  Its a new lady-tie I found when searching for a lady-tie for my girl, Ally.  I love it because it pairs well with my mocha skirt but it also makes me laugh because its a lady-tie printed with lady-ties:

If thats not some sartorial hilarity, I dont know what is.

Happy Wednesday, All!

A Different Kind of Pinspiration

This outfit was inspired not by Pinterest, but by the pins on this outfit of the, well, fabulous, April, over at Knocked Up Fabulous:

Instead of a bright blue skirt (I think I packed mine for winter) I paired my cream sweater (thrifted, Goodwill) with my mocha-colored skirt (thrifted, Goodwill).  I also added black tights (Spanx via Nordstrom), belt (thrifted, Goodwill) and boots (thrifted, Goodwill) and an infinity scarf (Steve Madden via Macys).

And, of course, I added a vintage brooch cluster (all via Lil' Gypsy Vintage):

I like how the scarf ties in the black boots and tights and love the little pop of red from the floral brooch.  This is definitely something I'd wear again; perhaps next time with my blue skirt if I can remember where I put it.

Happy Wednesday, All!  And Happy New Year!

The Plain Gray Tee

Have you ever noticed how much is written about the plain white tee?  Its practically iconic thanks in part to that timeless sexpot, James Dean.

Nearly every fashion magazine lauds the plain white tee as cool and effortless.  It has a band named after it.  And its recommended as a wardrobe staple to be paired with everything from jeans to suits to full skirts.

Well, Im here to celebrate the plain white tees cousin, the oft-overlooked plain gray tee.  I dont know why more isnt written about the plain gray tee.  Its easily as versatile as the plain white tee and obviously a favorite of myfavorite timeless sexpot, Marlon Brando.

And yet it gets no love.  Well, dear, sweet, awesome Plain Gray Tee, I love you.  I think youre great.  Last week I paired one of you with floral printed pants.  And today, Ive paired another of you with a mocha-colored skirt:

Look how good you look with that skirt, Plain Gray Tee; far more interesting that a plain white tee would have been.  I mean, think about it.  Everyone expects a plain white tee in unexpected places; but no one expects a plain gray tee.  Cant you just hear the comments now?   Quelle surprise!  That plain gray tee (Target) is so exciting and unusual with that mocha-colored skirt (vintage, thrifted), owl belt (Ross) and ankle-strap flats (Hive & Honey via Piperlime)."

So, dont worry, Plain Gray Tee, stick with me and together well topple the plain white tees colorless regime.
