Blue Nile Giveaway

This is my new vintage sweater dress:

I love it because I can pretend it's teal in certain lights, because it looks fantastic with orange tights and because... buttons:

Buttons!

But, enough about the dress, let's talk giveaway.

Although you can't see it, because my hair decided to eat it, I am actually wearing this Blue Nile sterling silver branch necklace:

Branch Necklace in Sterling Silver - image via Blue Nile

Isn't it lovely?  The fine folks at Blue Nile were kind enough to send me a necklace and sent another for one of my readers.  It's part of their "Get One, Give One" campaign for the holidays.

But, because I love my Readers, I've decided to give away m personal necklace as well, so everyone will have two chances to win.  You can either keep it for yourself or gift it to a friend or loved one; they make perfect stocking stuffers!

So, how do you win?  It's easy.  Just follow Fashion for Giants either with Google Friend Connect or Bloglovin' (see the buttons on the sidebar) and leave a comment below saying you've done so.  I will choose two winners on Friday evening so make sure you check back Saturday to see if you've won.

Happy Monday, All!  And good luck!

**CLOSED**GIVEAWAY: Shabby Apple

Hello Dearest, Darling Reader Friends!  Happy Monday!

I have a lovely surprise for you.  Well, I guess if you read the title of this post it's not a surprise, but I think you'll agree that it's still lovely.  So, what is this non-secret bit of loveliness?   I am hosting a Shabby Apple giveaway!

Shabby Apple is an online dress boutique that specializes in vintage and retro dresses.  And they're offering one lucky Fashion for Giants reader a $50.00 gift card to purchase any item they want.

And how do you win this gift card to have and to hold and to spend on wonderful goodies?  First, you need to like Shabby Apple on Facebook and follow Fashion for Giants on either GFC or Bloglovin (see the sidebar).

Second, you need to go to the Shabby Apple site and choose your favorite item.  Here are some of my favorites:

I love this print beyond all reason.  It looks like the upholstery on grandma's sofa in the best possible way.

Lace is back and in a big way.  This dress is a lovely way to wear the trend.  Also, the color may just be the perfect pink.

Cadence Swim Suit Top and Bottom

Vertical stripes and a bottom with a high waist?  Yes, please.

After you've found your favorites, leave me a comment telling me what name you "liked" Shabby Apple under, how you're following along with Fashion for Giants and what you favorite Shabby Apple item is.

And, that's it.  Some liking, some following and one comments, easy peasy.  And I'm giving you until Thursday night to get your comments in.

Now for the fine print for you fine ladies.  Unfortunately, this giveaway is only open to readers with a US shipping address.  Sorry, International Peeps.

Good luck, All!

Saturday Stuff and Things

I've decided to post (probably infrequently) a list of stuff and things from the week that didn't make it into my daily outfit posts.

And so, without further ado, welcome to my inaugural Stuff and Things post!

Thing One: eShakti is having a huge sale, offering items up to 40% off and they've given me a code to share with my readers for an extra 10% off of the 40%!  Just enter code FA26KEY at checkout through July 31st..  The sale includes dresses, skirts, tops and even some handbags, so go take a look.

If I were shopping, here are my picks:

The Striped Pleats Dress

The Undulation Skirt

The Bow Ties are Cool Dress

Yes, you've seen the Bow Ties are Cool dress on here before; what can I say?  I love it.

Thing Two: This is Sally's Already Pretty Book:

If you don't already know, I am in this book.  And I am giving away a copy to one of my lovely Reader Friends.  My giveaway ends tomorrow at noon, so don't forget to enter here.

And that's it.  Happy Saturday, All!

Im Famous, Yall!

I have been telling my nephews since they were babies that I am famous.  They were skeptical, even as swaddling infants.  Now, however, I have proof.  You see this book?

My friend Sally, of Already Pretty, wrote this book.  And its fabulous.  Its all about dressing the body you have but with your style, not someone elses.  However, the best part about this book, at least for me, is that Im in it!  Thats right, Sally included photos of some of her fellow bloggers in her gorgeous book and Im one of them!  Which means that finally (finally!) my nephews are being forced to recognize my famosity (totally a word, I dont care what spell check says).

Here's a sneak peek:

Look!  It's me!  I'm famous!

Want to see more of me doing my thing (you know, standing in front of a retaining wall with a huge smile on my face) in Sals book?  Well, I ordered an extra one just for one of my lucky Reader Friends!  All you need to do is leave me a comment letting me know youd like to be entered and a way to contact you.  Ill choose a winner in about a week or so.

And, if you dont like contests for some reason or cant wait to see if youve won in a week or so or want a copy for your best friend (I ordered all of my friends copies) or your sister (and my sister), you can order a copy at Amazon here.  The book is even available for Kindle!  (For iPad users, see Sals post here).

Bon Chance, Friends!

Hi All!

Have you guys noticed all of the fabulous Fourth of July sales going on everywhere?  Not the best time to be on an expedition in the Land of Nosh Opping, but Maurice and I shall persevere.  However, even though I cant shop, that doesnt mean you cant.  And if youre going to shop, may I suggest Shabby Apple?

Im giving away a $50.00 gift card to their site and trust me, you want this.  They have adorable, vintage inspired clothes in up to a size 16.  Im currently madly in love with their Twin Palms Collection:

One for My Baby

Raquet Club

  • Have a US mailing address and let me know in the comments that youre following Fashion for Giants and that youve Liked Shabby Apple on Facebook.
  • And for an extra entry visit Shabby Apple and let me know, in a new comment, what youd spend the $50.00 gift card on.

Philomena's Sunny Day Giveaway

This is Philomena the Foam Head:

Philomena is wearing a lovely sunhat sent to us by Dorfman Pacific.  The hat has a four-inch brim that provides UPF50 sun protection, which is doubly important to someone as fair as Philomena.  Philomena also appreciates that the hat is very lightweight and can easily packed into a bag or suitcase for vacation. (We really can attest to this; it was mailed to us folded up in a large envelope and unfolded just as lovely as you please).

It also comes adorned with a little bow:

And that little bow isn't just for decoration.  It is actually a functional sizing tie, in case your head isn't the same size as Philomena's.

That's right, this hat can be yours.  Philomena and I are giving away this very Dorfman Pacific Scala Collezione hat to one lucky reader.  All you need to do is leave me a comment, by midnight on Sunday, June 17th, letting me know where you'd take this easily-packable hat this summer.  Oh, and leave me a way to contact you if you win.  And, just in case you don't win, you can get a Scala Collezione hat of your own, here, at 20% off, using the code: SunHatSave20.  The code is good through June 30th, 2012.

Good luck, Reader Friends!

Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner

Congratulations to my eShakti Giveaway Winner:

Joy Maestas!  Joy, you do not actually win a chicken dinner, but you do win the garment of your choice from eShakti.  Which is probably the better prize anyway.  I'll put eShakti in touch with you so you can get your dress.

For the rest of you, thank you all so much for participating.  And stick around, I think I'll have another giveaway going up this weekend!

I Get a Four-Day Weekend, You Get a Giveaway

As I've mentioned about 72 times (that's only an approximation, of course), I have a four-day weekend this weekend.  But, I couldn't leave my peeps (that's you all) high and dry, so I'm hosting an eShakti giveaway!

Now, you may have already entered an eShakti giveaway on another blog.  That's okay, you can enter here too.  And it's sooooo easy.

  1. Follow Fashion for Giants.  It's usually a pretty good time.
  2. Visit eShakti and decide which one item you'd choose if you won.
  3. Like eShakti on Facebook
  4. Don't have Facebook?  You can follow eShakti on Pinterest instead.
After that, just leave me a comment letting me know which item you'd choose if you won.  And if you chose the Facebook or Pinterest route for liking/following eShakti.  See?  So easy.

What's that?  You'd like to know what I'd choose if I won?  Well, kids, lemme tell you.  I'd personally choose one of these four dresses:

The Swan Song Dress
I'm obsessed with this one.  From the print to the neckline.  Obsessed.

The Bow Ties Are Cool Dress
Check out the keyhole detail on the neckline; j'adore!

Heart Mints Shirtdress
Hearts!  Yellow buttons!  Shirtdress!  Yay!

 Make a Beeline Dress
The back of this dress is plain gray; so fun!

These are my favorites, but eShakti has dozens and dozens of dresses to choose from as well as skirts and blouses.  They carry up to a size 26 and most of the items can be customized to your measurements.  Basically, they're pretty great.

So, I hope you'll enter.  Unfortunately, it's only open to US and Canadian readers, but you have until midnight PST on May 31st to enter.  And I'll announce the winner on June 1st.  And remember, if you do win, you can even have the garment you choose customized!

Bon Chance!

Plum Pop

Although I was tempted to channel my inner Captain Casual again today, I wanted to wear my Karina Dresses dress one more time before the giveaway* closes.  I almost went with all black, but decided instead to do a pop of plum:

I paired my black dress (courtesy of Karina Dresses) with a black blazer (Gap Tall), plum tights and black wedge booties (Nine West Peekaboo via Piperlime).  And I added a brass and crystal necklace (Special Portland) to add some interest up top.  The plum tights, of course, add interest to the bottom of the outfit.

I have to say that, although I do love brightly colored tights, I think my plum tights have proven to be the most versatile.  They add color on days where I dont necessarily want to add COLOR but want a little something.  If youre still on the fence about colored tights, try plum, burgundy, rust or olive theyre easier to incorporate into a neutral wardrobe than bright tights.

*Whats this?  You didnt know I was hosting a giveaway?  Well, I am.  Karina Dresses was kind enough to provide me with this lovely dress and are going to provide one of my fabulous readers with a lovely dress of their own.  Interested?  You can enter, and find a discount code for $30.00 off, here.  But hurry; the giveaway closes tomorrow night at midnight, PST.

And, thats it for me this week.  I have the rest of the week and next Monday and Tuesday off.  Ill be working on a project, catching up on my mending, finally putting my clothes away and hiking in Eastern Oregon.  Ill try to take pictures of the interesting stuff.

I hope everyone has a fabulous New Year!

Holidays = Giveaways: Karina Dresses Review and Giveaway

Somehow, with my admittedly sizeable closet, I managed to not own a little black dress.  Karina Dresses has remedied that oversight by sending me this little black dress:

Yes, it was cold.  See what I do for you, Dearest Readers?

And I love it.  It looks simple enough, but is surprisingly versatile.  Today Im wearing a winterized work version of the dress with a wool Lauren Ralph Lauren jacket (thrifted), olive tights, riding boots (Born Crown Sosie via Nordstrom) and a bird-print scarf (thrifted):

But I could easily dress it up with a statement necklace, or a brooch or three at the waist or shoulder, or a colorful shoe or some major earrings.  And, in the summer, itll work wonderfully with a metallic sandal and an arm full of bangles.

I think its the cut that makes this dress so versatile.  It has a flattering v-neck, waist-enhancing waistband and a thigh-approved full skirt.  I also like that its sleeveless, but still offers enough coverage so my bra straps arent tempted to run amok.  And I love the length its one that would work for any age, any body and any height.

Little black dresses arent all that Karina Dresses makes though.  They offer this particular dress (the Marissa) in several prints and colors and even offer it with sleeves.  They also offer several other dress styles in a variety of prints and colors.  And, because the dresses are made from limited edition fabrics, the prints change regularly so their customers can always find new options in their favorite style.  I love that.

There is a lot to love about Karina Dresses though.  I love that theyre a small, American company based in Brooklyn and that they produce all of their dresses on site.  I love that their dresses are targeted towards women of all ages, all ethnicities, all aesthetics and all body types (they carry up to size 20 in some styles).  And I love their fabulous fabric its a microfiber blend with 4-way stretch that is machine-washable and never needs ironing; which, as a lazy gal, I truly appreciate.

And I think youll appreciate Karina Dresses as well.  Which is why Ive teamed up with them to offer one reader a free dress and the rest of my beloved readers $30.00 off the purchase of a Karina Dresses dress.

To enter the giveaway for the free dress, just do the following:

1.      Stop by Karina Dresses and peruse their wares.
2.      Visit the Karina Dresses Facebook page and like it.
3.      Leave me a comment letting me know which style of a Karina Dresses dress youd choose and your email address so I can contact you if you win.

This giveaway will close on midnight, PST on December 29th.  Which gives you a couple of weeks to enter.  Just dont forget!

And, to get $30.00 off the purchase of any full price Karina Dresses dress, just visit Karina Dresses here and enter this code PANG30 when you check out.  Also, Karina Dresses is offering FREE SHIPPING for the entire month of December!

Thats right, a giveaway, $30.00 off and free shipping.  Youre welcome, folks.  Youre welcome.

Happy Thursday, Everyone!

Good Advice, A Community and A Giveaway

Go Chic or Go Home.  It's good advice, no?  As it turns it out, it's also an online community of chic, fashion-lovers and for you, my lovely readers, it's also a giveaway.  My first giveaway, in fact.  But, we'll get to the giveaway in a minute, first let me tell you about Go Chic or Go Home.

Go Chic or Go Home is an online community of fashion-lovers that provides an opportunity to share, experiment with and explore fashion in a easy-going, welcoming environment.  The site has a variety of different features that let you do anything from uploading and remixing your wardrobe, to posting questions or advice for fellow members, to getting inspiration from fellow members.

My absolute favorite feature on GCOGH is the Monocle.  It's an inspiration board to which members post outfits based on a theme.  It's a TON of inspiration all in one place.  The current theme is Boots and given my love of boots, you know I'm thrilled.

GCOGH has also paired with a number of  vendors to offer an online shop.  And you, Dear, Sweet Reader Friends, have the opportunity to win a $50 gift card to any one of GCOGH's vendor partners.  That's right, any one!  All you have to do is the following:

  1. Follow Fashion for Giants (do it, it's fun).
  2. Sign up for a Go Chic or Go Home account using this special invitation link (also super fun).
  3. Poke around a bit on the site, maybe visit (fall in love with) the Monocle, and then tell me what you think in the comments.
  4. In your comment, make sure you leave a valid email address; you can't win if you don't leave an email address.
  5. Wait for next Monday when I'll announce the winner!
Also, this giveaway is open to all of my readers, including current GCOGH members and international readers.  For international readers, just make sure the vendor you choose the giftcard for ships internationally.  And for current GCOGH members, you just need to leave your email address in the comments.

And, finally, the giveaway is open until midnight, Pacific Standard Time, on December 10th.

Good Luck, All!
