Lemon and Rose

This is one of my favorite color combinations to wear, but I have no idea why:

It doesnt seem like rose and lemon would pair well together, and, for all I know, they dont.  But, I like them together and I like wearing them together.  At least I think I do.  I do have to admit, however, that as Im nearing the end of my Nosh Opping expedition, I may be putting together some ridiculous combinations just so I get everything worn and can shop again.

I dont think thats the case today, but it very well could be.  Whatever the reason, I paired a rose-colored skirt (thrifted) with a lemon yellow blouse (Old Navy).  I added a thin black belt (Steve Madden via Ross) and my previously orphaned ankle-strap flats (Hive & Honey Yvonna via Piperlime).  I think I probably could have added a black statement necklace except that I dont have a black statement necklace because I dont really wear statement necklaces.  Except that Ive decided maybe I do which I guess means Ill need to buy one for next time.

Future shopping plans aside, I do like this outfit and Im definitely keeping both of these pieces.

And thats it for me.  Its been a long, exhausting week, but it should be a good weekend.  Tomorrow Im going to the Jazz Festival in Cathedral Park and if her voice is healed, Ill be watching Florence + the Machine at Edgefield.  Im especially excited for both of these events because the combination of venue and music should be spectacular.

Have a wonderful weekend, Everyone!

Lavender, Lemon and a Bee Attack

Yall, I was totally attacked by a bee today.  Okay, he was probably just flying by, but I reacted like it was an attack by ducking and squealing and then laughing.  You know; as one does:

Not to worry though, I got it together enough to take pictures.  Sort of:

Like yesterdays color combination of tomato and violet, todays combination is one Ive wanted to try for sometime.  Specifically, since the EBEW Pastels Challenge in which my lovely friend, Ana of Shes Addicted to Clothes, paired lavender and yellow.

My lavender and lemon pairing involves a thrifted lavender eyelet dress and a lemon-yellow cardigan (Target).  I added a multi-colored belt (thrifted) which allowed me to sneak in navy platform sandals (MRKT via DSW) and rust red earrings because I like to ground my pastels with non-pastels.

Is there a word for non-pastels?  I'm sure there is.  Does anyone know what it is?

Happy Wednesday, All!  Watch out for bees!
