Hearts and Raw Edges

This sweater used to have sleeves, but it looked ridiculous with sleeves so I hacked them off:

So now, instead of sleeves, I have raw edges:

And hearts.  Isn't it adorable, all covered in hearts?

Really, now that I got rid of those pesky sleeves, I love this sweater.  And I love it with my polka dot jeans, white button down and riding boots:

And, of course, with my heart necklace:

I figure if anything goes with hearts, it's more hearts.  Right?  That's a thing, pairing hearts with hearts?  Sure it is...

Happy Monday, All!

Stiff Weirdness

You see this sweater?

I love this sweater like no ones business.  But, Ill be damned if I can figure out how to wear it.  Its just sort of stiff and a weird length and possibly too big.  But, its also multi-textured hearts and that makes me love it in spite of its stiff weirdness.  Sadly, love doesnt turn one into a styling genius, so this happened:

I mean, I guess its not terrible.  But, its not right either.  I think the proportions are just too off.  Not off in that cool way that jostles the eye but still allows it to continue its journey along the lines of the outfit.  No, off in the bad way where your eye basically gets slapped in the face and you have to look away to prevent further damage.

Bam!  Like a slap to your eye face.

So, obviously, I need some help.  How would you style this sweater, Dearest Reader Friends?

Thank you in advance.  And Happy Tuesday!

Secretly Awesome

This sweater has a gold, snake print up the front, like it was slithered on by a giant, gold covered anaconda.  Its pretty cool, but you cant really see it in these photos:

Guess youre just going to have to take my word for it.  Because heaven forbid I actually take a photo that shows detail.

In addition to my secretly awesome sweater (a.n.a via JC Penney), I also wore my very favorite pleated skirt (thrifted via Goodwill), tights (Hue via Nordstrom Rack), boots (Vince Camuto via Nordstrom) and my new favorite scarf (Betsey Johnson via Nordstrom).

I just realized that I wear an awful lot of snake.  I wonder if that means the Sorting Hat will put me in Slytherin when Hogwarts finally calls.  I hope not!

Happy Friday, Everyone!  Like most, I have a three-day weekend, so Ill see you all on Tuesday!

Cozy Hearts and Stripes

It was very cold on my ride in today, so I bundled up in cozy hearts and stripes:

This heart scarf (Betsy Johnson via Nordstrom) really is super cozy:

And not to terribly twee (I dont do twee very well).

I wore the scarf with a striped tee (Old Navy) layered under an anorak (Liz Claiborne via Goodwill) and added black skinnies (a.n.a via JC Penney) and boots (thrifted via Goodwill).

It was simple and warm and perfect for a cold, foggy morning.

Happy Friday, Everyone!

Harlequin and Hearts

I learned a lot from wearing this outfit today:

One, in spite of the neutral color palette, this outfit attracts a lot of attention.  From whispers of look at those shoes as I passed by, to concern that I was interviewing for a different job.

Two, I am apparently considered by my peers to be more fashionable than professional; todays outfit was described as professional-fashionable as opposed to my usual fashionable-fashionable.  Ill take it.

Three, when worn over black tights, these shoes kind of look like the wedge high-top sneakers Ive been trying to avoid.  Heh.

Four, this skirt is not great for bike riding.  Its so full that the wind kept catching it and I looked like a giant crow or bat trying to ride a bike.  And, with my black coat, I also felt a little witchy.  My friends are always threatening to drive behind me blasting the Wicked Witchs theme from The Wizard of Oz.  Today would have been a great day for that.

All that for whats basically a very simple outfit.  Its a harlequin sweater vest (vintage J. G. Hook via Goodwill) layered over a black turtleneck (Gap) with a black skirt (Ralph Lauren via Goodwill), black tights (Hue via Nordstrom Rack) and Matiko Ella wedges (Ideeli).  I also added a belt (vintage brass), earrings (gifted) and the titular hearts in the form of a heart necklace from ModCloth ( v. old).

And I think I liked it.  I think its unusual but I also think its kind of cool.  But, honestly, I dont know; Im having the hardest time dressing myself lately.

Happy Tuesday, All!
