Arbitrary Neon

Arbitrary Neon is going to be the name of the band I start after Neon Peach goes up in flames because the bass guitarist thinks she should be a solo artist.  It also describes my accessories today:

Although you cant see it very well, I am wearing a neon necklace.  This neon necklace:

Why?  Because it made sense this morning and who am I to ignore morning inspiration.  (Also, Morning Inspiration is going to be the name of my 70s soft rock cover band).  In addition to the arbitrary neon necklace (Target), I also wore dark leopard skinnies (Old Navy Rock Star), a sheer, printed blouse (Liberty Love via Nordstrom Rack), an oversized blazer (gifted J. Crew; thanks Alex!) & boots (MIA Roam via Piperlime).

Full disclosure, I love this outfit.  I love the weird color combination (tobacco, blue & fuchsia?), the pattern mixing (of course) and the arbitrary neon necklace.  Its randomly cohesive, which is totally my thing.  As of right now.

Happy Thursday, All!

Shop the Look:
Neon Target necklace
Similar blouse
Old Navy RockStar Skinnies
MIA Roam boots
I couldn't find a similar blazer, but I'd suggest thrifting something; thrift stores are full of oversized blazers.

Violet, Mustard and Polka Dots

Its still raining and Im still wearing bright colors.  Today its violet and mustard.  Because those two colors totally go together.  See?:

I wore a violet skirt (thrifted) and a mustard cashmere sweater (thrifted).  And, because polka dots go with everything, I added some of those too with my blouse (Old Navy) and my umbrella (Target).  Okay, I actually added the polka dot blouse to tie in my black tights (Spanx) and wedge booties (Nine West Peekaboo via Piperlime), but they really do go with everything.

Also, did you all know that its finally Thursday?  Well, it is, and that means Im linking up to the Thursday is for Thrifters Link Party over at Brass in Pocket.

Happy Thursday, All!  Stay dry!

Hot Pink to Keep Me Warm

Its still freezing here in Oregon today.  I had to be extra careful riding in and extra bundled up for warmth.  This, of course, meant more layers.  But, unlike yesterdays layers, todays layers are not lacking for color:

Nope, today I went with hot pink to keep me warm.  Okay, yes, its probably not the color.  Its probably the fact that this dress (thrifted) is vintage and is appropriately acrylic.  Acrylic, like many unnatural fibers, will often keep you warmer than you want to be.  But, not today; today I needed to be very warm and this dress did the trick.

Especially layered under a wool-blend striped blazer (Halogen via Nordstrom) and over a silk slip and tights.  I added black boots (Vince Camuto Fantastic via Nordstrom), silver and turquoise earrings and a wide, black belt.  Because I am envious of the wide-belt-wearing skills of Chelsea from Bright Side Dweller.

Color or fabrication, this hot pink dress totally kept me warm.

Happy Thursday, Everyone!

Giraffe-a-Dots

Im afraid todays post is going to be another rambling one, much like last Fridays.  Im not saying rambling is my Friday thing, but it does look like were heading in that direction.  So, yeah, thats something.

Lets start with the clothes.  Today Im wearing giraffes and dots:

I love navy and hot pink together and figured why not giraffes and dots; hence, giraffe-a-dots.  I paired a navy and white polka dot sweater (Old Navy) with a hot pink giraffe print scarf (Target), cuffed jeans (Gap Real Straight jeans), the lion earrings from yesterday (vintage) and black mini-wedges (Jessica Simpson via Nordstrom).

And now for the rambling

The lion earrings and giraffe scarf got me to thinking.  Do lions eat giraffes?  Does anything eat giraffes?  Are we really at the top of the food chain?  Or is it giraffes?

And yes to every one who pointed out that I think and laugh about hard core/parkour because of Schmidt.  Schmidt cracks me up.

This album cover also cracks me up:

Its The Knack and it looks like the two on the left didnt tell the two on the right that My Sharona is a huge hit and its okay to smile.  Or the two on the right didnt tell the two on the left that they were supposed to be a sexy band, damnit.

Finally, Im going to a Mad Men-themed benefit dinner and auction this weekend with my girl, Alex, and I am crazy super excited.  I love my dress, hope I can figure out a hairstyle, am wearing lots of rhinestones and promise to take lots and lots of photos to share.

Oops.  One more thing; Happy Friday, Everyone!!!
