Cranberry

I guess this cardigan could be called "red" but red is boring and I grew up looking at J.Crew catalogs, so I'm calling it cranberry:

Dress: c/o eShakti  Cardigan: thrifted   Tights: Spanx   Boots: Nine West "Darsy"

I know it doesn't seem like enough for cold November weather, but it's a lovely wool/silk mix and is warm as heck.  I thrifted it a couple of years ago and don't wear it nearly enough, I think because the proportions are a bit difficult to work with.

Then I remembered that I have trouble with proportions anyway so I just slapped it on over my eShakti sheath dress and some tights:

In case you were curious, the dress is oatmeal with an ink trim and the tights and boots are ebony.

Happy Friday, All!

Disheveled Dots

I havent slept well the past couple of nights and that has, apparently, culminated in my not noticing how amazingly wrinkled this dress was before I got in front of the camera.  Basically, Im going to have to ask that you overlook the dishevelment of this outfit in favor of the dots:

So, please to repeat after me: Dots!  So cute.  And that rounded collar.  So retro.  Wrinkles?  What wrinkles?  All I see are those clever lines of gradient dots.  And what is that color?  Lavender putty?  Who knew putty was so pretty.

Thank you for your participation.

The dress is vintage JC Penney (hence the retro collar) that I thrifted it a couple of weekends ago and hemmed to above the knee.  I paired it with ribbed, cranberry tights (Hue), a thin belt (Gap) and my riding boots (Born Crown Sosie via Nordstrom).  I think the addition of the boots plays to the 70s feel of the dress but that shortening the dress keeps it from being too costume-y.

I really do love this dress, so it sort of makes me sad that I didnt do right by it for its first time on the blog.  But, Im still linking it up, in all its wrinkled glory, to Thursdays are for Thrifters.  Because I have no shame.

Happy Thursday, Everyone!

Two for One

Yesterday I posted my outfit from Saturday night, so Im including my outfit from yesterday, as well as todays outfit, in todays post.

This is yesterdays outfit:

Yesterday I wore pleats and animal.  I paired a black pleated skirt (thrifted), cream silk tank (thrifted), cranberry wool cardigan (Ports International, thrifted), black tights (Spanx), owl belt (Ross), tassel pendant (Old Navy) and animal print booties (80%20 Tessa via Piperlime).

And this is todays outfit:

Today is very windy!

Today I wore stars and studs.  I paired a star-print skirt (thrifted) with a plain white tee (Target) and a black cardigan (Gap).  I added black wedge booties (Nine West Peekaboo via Piperlime), a red, studded belt (thrifted), strange little dunce-man earrings (gifted) and bright red tights (DKNY via Nordstrom).

Due to a nearly crippling combination of laziness and poor computer skills, I dont do retrospectives or even show multiple outfits in a single post.  But, I do think its kind of interesting to see a couple outfits together that show there is basically no rhyme or reason to what I leave the house in.

Happy Tuesday, All!

Burgundy, Olive and Rust

My photographer, and friend, Ferge, asked me this morning if I was depressed because my outfits the last few days have been rather subdued.  I told her that I wasnt depressed but maybe my wardrobe was; I think my wardrobe is already tired of winter.  Mostly though, I just liked these colors together:

When I bought this scarf (Target) I was a little hesitant because I prefer brightly colored scarves (with giraffes, if I can get them) and I wasnt sure how much Id wear it.  I think its proven to be fairly versatile though.  I like it with leopard and I like it with this burgundy sweater tunic.  Because its frickin freezing today (literally; we had snow and ice and sleet), I layered the tunic over an olive-colored long-sleeve tee (Gap), ponte leggings (Vince Camuto via Nordstrom), wool socks and riding boots (Born Crown Sosie via Nordstrom).

And I was still cold.  So, if my wardrobe is suffering from a case of SAD, I cant say I blame it.

Happy Wednesday, All!

Polka Floral

Hello, All!  Im sorry for being gone so long.  I was fighting a cold all last week and Im sorry to say the cold won this weekend.  I was out of commission yesterday and Im still fuzzy today.  But, I dragged myself out of bed this morning and stumbled into this outfit:

Which is only okay.  The colors are good and I love me a good polka floral combination, but this isnt the most flattering silhouette.

I think the vintage Janzten skirt (thrifted) with the polka dot blouse (thrifted) is good.  But the cardigan (men's vintage Janzten, thrifted) needs to be slimmer.  And a different shoe is probably in order as well.  I wore my riding boots (Born Crown Sosie via Nordstrom) but a bootie might have been better.  Either less bulk on the top or the bottom and the outfit would have been more flattering.

But, hey, what are you gonna do?  You win some, you lose some and when Im sick, its all I can do to get dressed, without worrying if it works or not.  Hopefully Ill feel better tomorrow and wont look as if the abominable snowman discovered polka floral.

Happy Tuesday, All!

Take Four: Saturated Hues from Coast to Coast

Hello!  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  Mine was busy, busy, busy, but in the most fabulous way.  Also fabulous is todays Take Four theme: Saturated Hues.  Im a big fan of rich, bold color, so the berry, emerald and cobalt shades that were shown on the runways for this fall thrill me to no end.  For my take on the trend, I went with berry:

I layered my cranberry wool cardigan (Ports International, thrifted) with a black and cream brushstroke printed sleeveless dress (Target).  I added a thin brown belt (Gap), black tights (Spanx via Nordstrom), burgundy pumps (Naya Jada via Nordstrom) and a few accessories.

Happy Monday, Everyone!
